Bio:
          Dan's music background started at home at the age of eight when he attended piano classes, at ten, he turned to learning the accordion under the guidance of Mort Kelleher and stayed until he won the under 18 All-Ireland Piano Accordion section, seven years later. His father, Michael was a great influence in getting all of the Hallissey family involved in playing music, and with eight of us there, the house was never quiet. Many of Dan's sisters still play and sing both professionally and semi. The first band Dan played in was a three piece called 'The Supertones', bass, drums and guitar, which included Gerard O'Rourke and Tim Harrington. They were very popular in and around the bars of County Cork and they lasted for about three years. Gerard upped and got married and Tim and Dan then went under the name 'New Dimension', bass, guitar, keyboards and drum machine. Again very popular, New Dimension, played more to the night club scene and after about three years, Tim moved to San Francisco where he got married and now owns an electrical contracting business. Dan, then left on his own, played under the name 'High On The Grass', catering to weddings, parties and bar sessions. In 1995, Dan moved to Boston and is now married with a family.
Between 1999 and 2001, Dan spent much time playing with the popular Irish Band - The Irish Ramblers around Asia and in particular in Seoul, South Korea.
          Dan now uses only one keyboard for his performances, a Yamaha  PSR-9000pro, which uses state-of-the-art technology bringing the best quality sounds. This keyboard also has a built in harmonizer which when used with an AKG headset delivers a full sounding harmony backing when he is singing. Also, at some functions, Dan invites guests up on stage to sing (or sing along), this audience participation often really makes a night come to life and this is especially popular at birthday parties and weddings. 
          Dan also spends a lot of time in recording studios as a session musician and has performed with such names as The Dixie's, Denis Allen, The Irish Weavers and the English band Auto De Fe, as well as numerous bands from all around Ireland.
